Hawai'i Beckons will help you find live Hawaiian slack key music and hula – in Hawai'i and on the mainland. The first part of the site is about Hawai'i.

The Hawaiian Slack Key Music Calendar is organized by island. When you select an island the current month calendar for that island drops down. Pick the day you are interested in and a complete list of who is playing where on that day appears.

The Slack Key Musicians page lists the performing musicians, their website, their instruments and if they give lessons. This is also organized by island. Vocalists are noted by a “v” in the first column.

The Hula Calendar is also organized by island so you can easily find a hula performance. Only performances by hālaus are listed. It is organized the same way as the music calendar. The hālaus are listed by island. Hālaus are much more than a hula school. If you join a hālau it is a serious commitment over many years.

The mainland calendars are organized the same way by region and state. The listing of the mainland performers/groups and hālaus is also the same for each state. The mainland Hawaiian stores and Hawaiian restaurants listings are also listed by region and by state.

​Hawaiʻi Beckons is a registered 501(c)3 organization. Money raised goes to other 501(c)3 organizations which train those learning slack key and hula. We want them to have a future and not just a past.
