Hawaiian Musicians
Here you will find a listing of all the performing musicians on the various islands. Click on the island you want or that you're on and then select from the musicians there. They are alphabetical by last name with their website, whether they teach or not and a small blurb about each of the musicians.
If you have a particular musician that you want to follow this is one of the best places to do it because all of their gigs will be listed in the calendar as long as they tell us what they are.
Hawaiian music has had a profound affect on American music. For example the very first dreadnought guitar was made by the Martin Guitar Company for Mekia Kealakaia who wanted a guitar with more volume so it could be heard in large performance spaces. Martin called it the Kealakai model and it was model for all dreadnoughts tha have been made. The lap steel guitar also was the creation of a Hawaiian musician.
